Breathing Deeply

I have been locked in Techno Hell for a year now. Old computer died. New computer had Internet connectivity issues and operating system issues. Bought new laptop so could take new computer in for repairs. Got new computer back. Works good. Put laptop on wireless router. Works good but for some reason can't receive e-mails. Upgraded to Windows 7 on new computer and now it's locking up again. Have to take it back to Dr. Geek to undo what I did but, need to get laptop to receive incoming e-mails first. My BlackBerry gets e-mails but, for some reason, not all of them.

I'm a nerd but, I wish I was a techno geek. I pray every morning to roll over in bed and find the husband in a Geek Squad uniform instead of his birthday suit. In my next life I will be a geek, I will be a geek (clicking heels together) I will be a geek. Until then, I'm just trying to breathe deeply and work through the problems one at a time. But, not too deeply...have you seen all the trees in bloom. Achoo!

Have a great weekend.

The trees are stunning and I'm so excited about spring just around the corner.

Sometimes I wish I had a geek best friend who followed me everywhere and sorted out any problems the moment I had them. I also wish the same thing about a plumber. Plumbers are really useful.

OH, lovely allergic blooms!!!

Sarge can fix my computer but only up to a point, and then I have had to brave the evil Mac repair center, Tekserve, where they are SO skillful and wicked and arrogant...

Even if you start a gmail account or yahoo account, you still cannot get mail?

Only through your window. Cold and grey here - and rainy.

you need the right tech support. to sort out technology problems from user error. Obviously your tech problems may not all be technology related. A computer with a fruit as a logo may not be the answer. for more help, try the support at www.debug911.com

My husband can usually work out my computer glitches but when he's not here it's hopeless. More and more often, my daughter does it, too! Is there a "get a geek on the phone" service?

Why call a Geek when you can get a Pro for less. You can call 866-DEBUG-911. We service clients all around the United States. Most times we can work with them via remote to solve their problems. Service starts at $25.

Jai: Oh, me too! I think I'm just going to have to make friends with my favorite geek so I can special request him. The Wonder Husband is a pretty good plumber and, really, he can fix everything we have EXCEPT computer. I think I'm just spoiled.

Leah: I'm kinda like Sarge, I can fix them up to a point. You are right, professional techies are very skillfull, arrogant and wicked. They know they've got what we want.

TechnoBabe: Thanks but, now you tell me.

Brian: Yes-TechnoBabe cool. Techno issues-not cool.

Otin: I haven't tried setting up a new account but, I have a feeling I could get it that way. The husband has an eBay business and so much mail comes to our other address that I want to keep it if possible. I did figure out that I can send but, receiving is intermittent. Very intermittent.

Nessa: Yesterday, we had such a huge, blustery storm but, today...beautiful!

Alex: Thanks so much for your information. I will keep your number.

JGH: I can usually fix it if its somewhat normal problem. Yes, I can get the geek on the phone and will have to tomorrow. Your daughter is so COOL.

Geek stuff completely stumps me, as I am a nerd, a completely different animal.

That's why I cough up the extra $$ and use a Mac. You don't have to be a geek if you have a mac. They are made for idiots. Like me.

May the force be with you!

it's all geek to me!

lovely blossoms! we won't be seeing anything like that for a couple months. but for now the snow is gone, however the s word is in the forecast for tonight. technically it IS still winter!

Ah so frustrating. My transition to geek isn't quite complete but I have a son who's very helpful . . frankly I'd prefer a mechanic!

Megan said...

My brother takes care of all that stuff for me. The only occasional drawback is that he is SO geek he sometimes outsmarts himself...

Spring has sprung here - nice to see some green showing on the burn areas!

Ronda Laveen said...

Lettuce: You're welcome.

Reya: I so wished I'd gone with Macs.

Mouse: We could still get snow but, the odds are going down. Spring IS just around the corner.

Baino: The Wonder Husband is a good mechanic. Maybe we could trade on occasion.

Megan: You are lucky to have Brother Geek. I'll bet it does look nice with all the fresh green coming up on the burn area. After all that devastation, the renewal is beginning to show.

Your post - a good description of our usual reality: OS issues, internet issues, upgrading issues, desktop/laptop issues.

When the desktop is 'ill', I go to the laptop and google 'how do I fix.....' and viceversa, when the laptop is sick' I go to the desktop to google....'how do I fix...'

I'm usually able to help myself that way. We shouldn't depend too heavily on technicians or friends.

No blooming trees here yet. But your photos give me great hope! Thanks for sharing! And good luck with the tech stuff. There's nothing more frustrating!

At least it's almost Spring! When it's nice and warm outside it'll be easier to forget about all your techno-troubles!

Ronda Laveen said...

Stacy: Spring is bustin' out all over here. Soon, for you too!

Felicitas: Yes, you are right and less than a week now until spring.

Yayy for hayfever, it means there's no more snow... not that it affects me much here!!

Dave King said...

They all do it, not just Windows 7. You just have to let them. Geeks can make it worse.

Ronda Laveen said...

ED: well, sometimes means the end of snow. Sven, The Snow God, could come along and send snow in April and ruin all the fruit and flowers. But it sure is pretty right now.

Dave: Hmmm...hadn't thought about it like that.

Quiet frankly, computers DO MY HEAD IN! But, I never thought that I would say this, I am lost without one!

Loved the photo by the way, very pure..

Computers are somewhat like cars....when they run, we just take then for granted. When they don't it makes you crazy.

I can't fix cars either.

Ronda Laveen said...

Gemel: I can do without them either.

Sandy: I like my cars that way too. I turn the key, it starts. Thanks for visiting the Wonderland.

Yes, computers are like cars and they need regular maintenance. If you own a car you try to find a repair shop you can trust. Once you find one, you'll stick with it for most of your life. Find yourself an IT support person you like and trust and your troubling days will be over.

Also, don't always buy the cheapest equipment from a big box store, it is are cheap for a reason.

Thank you, Alex. You are wise. Are you omniscient as well?

Unknown said...

omniscient? Not at all. However, many people forget applying common sense when it comes to computer problems. Comparing computer to cars was a great example of common sense, I've been using this comparison for years.
Everyone knows what happens if you drive your car for 20,000 miles and never change the oil. Computers are no different. Regular maintenance will keep them running better and longer - no matter what brand they are.

Look up my facebook page for additional wisdom you won't find at a big box store.

Alex: Thank you. I will!
