Howdy, Vern! Welcome, Autumn!

Give Vern, the Vernal equinox, a great big "HOWDY." The day we've been waiting for, since the Groundhog promised only six more weeks of winter, is finally here. A day of equal light and dark. The first day of spring.

At Equinox, I always feel like those of us on the top of the Earth and our friends at the bottom, are poised on the balance point of a teeter toter. For one day, we float in space, kicking our legs and squealing, as we wait for our weight to carry us to one side of center or the other.

As we welcome spring, Autumn, the Autumnal equinox, is making her grand entrance into the lower half of the world. I wonder if the down-under-lings are looking forward to a darker shade of cool as much as we are a lighter shade of warm.

Where ever you live, stop for a moment. Take a big whiff of the newly seasoned air. Notice what your environment looks like right now. Feel the powerful change a comin'. Grab the reigns, make a big wish and hold tight as you ride this magnificent bucking and kicking rock to the next power zone of the year.

YEE HAW!

Went outside very early this a.m. to walk the dog and the air was fresh, clean, Spring!

I am looking forward to a lighter shade of warm, especially after a winter of 3 blizzards, though I am more of an Autumn lover.

Yee Haw, indeed!

A great big "HOWDY", to be sure. Fingers crossed that Mother Nature doesn't go back on it.

It snowed here yesterday! Ah, but we just laughed it off. We know it will be changing soon. Just like in our lives, it did take awhile for the changes to happen as we learned and matured. Hugs to you, Ronda, for the reminder of what will surely come.

Oh yeah!! Absolutely YES. I am kicking my legs and squealing, then settling down for a second to feel the brief moment of balance. Oh yeah.

Well said!!

I love your teeter tooter analogy. A wonderful picture. Just full of excitement and joy.

1st Day of Spring!

Where I live it's kind of hard to stay indoors these days. Outside, it's sunny, warm (even too warm for the season), the air is filled with flower scents, and it's a pleasure to wander about.

However, Passover holiday is approaching and I have to do some cleaning and refreshening work at home, which means postponing the wandering for the time being.

I love the teeter totter analogy!

What a vivid image, us floating in space kicking our legs. Sounds like me on a normal day.

Howdy Vern!

Well this downunderling is sitting at her computer with all the doors and windows open, crickets blasting, the soft fragrance of gardenias and the promise of a 30 degree day. Autumn is wonderful here. Warm, sunny and due to the lack of deciduous trees, not much in the way of leaf fall!

Lettuce: No jacket, coat, scarf or gloves IS daring.

Marisa: 3 blizzards? Wow! I'm sure walking the dog feels very nice.

Dave: She usually does back up a bit before she finally commits.

TechnoBabe: Yes, changes take a while to finally settle in. Hugs to you too.

Reya: It is so fun on this day...hanging in space. waiting for the flip.

Nessa: Yes, it is a day of joy and excitement of the things to come.

DUTA: Yes, the outdoors is definitely calling to be joined. But, it is time to prepare for Passover and Easter. This is such a powerful time of the year.

Mama Zen: Thanks.

Jai: If that sounds like you on a normal day, you muswt be a "kick" to be around.

Tony: We set ours ahead last week. A couple of years ago we started moving it forward a couple of weeks earlier.

Felicitas: So true, not amoment too soon.

Brian: How do you type while you drive. You are one crazy blogger.

Baino: I was hoping you would check in to let us know what autumn is like in your half of the world. It sounds so lovely and the gardenias just put it over the top!

Hi Ronda
I'm here following your amazing comment on Dave's blog about the scientist who took an interest in how long his brain would continue to function after it had been severed from his body.

A ghastly story but it drew me to you. And here I find we share the same age and we are on opposite sides of the world.

I'm mindful of that midpoint, the wonderful sense of equality. For us in Australia the down ward run into winter. For you the surge of spring. It's good to meet you.

Ronda Laveen said...

Elisabeth: Welcome. It is a ghastly story but it has stuck with me for many years. It is amazing how one, destined for death, can still find a positive focus and purpose in his exit.

It is interesting how we share different but common changes in our seperate hemishperes. Happy Autumn to you.

Ronda:

I have not read your tale Elizabeth is quoting -- however, after reading some of your work I agree you do drew people to you through your writings, The last couple of weeks has been a wild ride -- just like you posted about... The Gemini in me loves it the Yee Haw ride -- but been living a roller coaster ride too many years so the other twin, says Whoa Nellie,
Have a good week end,
Joanny

Yes, I would say I am kicking my legs and squealing allright!- absolutely love this time of year with nothing but warmer days laid out in front of us. Wheeeeee!!!!

Jonny: Elisabeth was writing about a comment I made on Dave King's blog. Someting he wrote, reminded me of a piece of research I read a long time ago about a man of science back in the days of beheading about to have his cut off. He didn't want to waste this opportunity, even at his death, to study the human body. Well, your Gemini twins, the one that says Yee Haw and the one the says Whoa, Nelly create balance. Which is perfect for this time of year!

JGH: I do so love this time of year too! Whee!!!

Unfortunately for me this is getting into the HOT weather. The previous six months have been glorious but now the temperature is already approaching 40degrees and will soon be in the 50's... hibernation time in the sand ;0)

Ronda Laveen said...

Gemel: Rain sounds like a welcome relief. Congrats on getting Scrappy.

ED: I'll bet it gets really hot there too! Hiding in the sand is right!

I think that the warm time of the year is favorable in most people's hearts. I have no evidence to back that up, but it sure seems like people are happier in the summer!

Megan said...

I got in a swimming pool yesterday! No joke!

Woo hoo, sliding down into summer! (Or is it up?)

Ronda Laveen said...

Otin: I think most people I know like warm better too! I can think of a few who bah humbug summer but, by and large, summer gets the nod.

Megan: Swimming already? Go LA Girl. Sheesh, what about your white body, your muffin top and cottage cheese thighs?

Oh, that's me I'm thinking about, you're probably summer svelte.

Bob on!
