Spring Days

Redbud

I Meant To Do My Work Today

by Richard Le Gallienne

I meant to do my work today,
But a brown bird sang in the apple tree,
And a butterfly flitted across the field,
And all the leaves were calling me.

And the wind went sighing over the land,
Tossing the grasses to and fro,
And a rainbow held out its shining hand--
So what could I do but laugh and go?

There are so many things that tell me that spring is here, like flowers.

Calendula

And Nina's birthday on April 15th.

And other events that occur on April 15th, like deadlines.

And dreaming about what you will buy with your refund. Chelsea's choice? Upgrading from Mini Coopers to SUVs.

And nothing SCREAMS spring louder than the first marijuana seedling eradication raid of the season in our little northern California locale.

The sun is shining. The birds are singing. Seeds are bursting. Plants and trees are leafing and budding. In many ways, people are like plants...some bud early, others much later. Enjoy this season of growth!

Oh no, they have already started the raids, but it is not even harvest time yet. Just look at all the possible tax money they are losing. Do they not know that nature is offering them a golden goose. It is the California Green Rush.

But seriously, did you see that there is the beginnings of a California Gold Rush again. And just like the last one, only the suppliers will see the real gold. And as they keep putting it on the news more often, the people who see gold in their eyes will think they are gonna be the "one".

I think spring is everyone's favorite time of year. New life just beginning, new flowers blooming, although we pretty much have them all year round here, but now we will get even more. Yes, I love spring too, not too hot and not too cold. It is usually just the right temp.

Happy Spring Day to you!

God bless.

Mrs: Sherry, California Green Rush? You are so funny. But it is true. Green Plants=Green $. I have heard about the "new" Gold Rush. It is interesting how people get the fever. People never gave up panning and mining in my area. It's not as crazy as back in the day but I regularly see nuggets that friends have found.

Brian: It seems more and more that I see people in costumes or on street corners waving signs for business. I think that many business owners feel that they get better exposure for their advertising $. Paying someone minimum wage or send them out on the street when times are slow, I guess, is preferred to dolling out $ to advertising companies. Humm, sending people out on the streets kinda reminds me of another business.

Mary: Oh no, you still have snow? Brrrr. Come back here any time. I'll keep posting some warm, sunny pictures to give you hope.

Candi: Hi Candie. Yes, my weekend was very nice. Had a great BBQ. Springtime is sooo uplifting isn't it?

Awww . . and here although the weather is decidedly 'springy' the leaves are falling from the trees and the early morning is swathed in mist. I wonder if they burn the dope fields. I have a funny image of masses of stoned policemen giggling heartily and demanding toasted cheese and ham sandwiches.

Ronda, dearie..this was so light and breezy and I needed it! I get bogged down in my own pit of seriousness. Those dancing statues of liberties that stand beside a busy intersection and lure you with cheap tax services sort of scare me..

I'm saving my refund..its going to my I gotta move now or I'm gonna lose my mind fund.

Happy Spring! I'm finding I've been slacking off a bit with my writing..Spring Fever.

Baino: Aww, sounds like fall is deepening into winter there. They used to burn the dope. Not so much fields of it but just to incinerate to get rid of it. It has been a while since I heard of how they destroy (steal) it after the consficated plants are done being used for evidence. I will have to check on that. I love the image of coppers being toasted and demanding ham and cheese sammies that are the same.

Mindy: I know what you mean the dancing statues in their velvet (polyester) suits kind of take me back too. I am always imagining one accompanying me to an audit. Well, you see here Mr. IRS man...

ok, here you go...5 questions...

1. What inspires you to get out of bed everyday?
2. If you could do any one job for the rest of your life, what would it be?
3. If you could change one thing about you, what would it be?
4. Describe your perfect day.
5. what CD are you listening to right now?

Beautiful images of spring, and pretty pot plants too. I;d forgotten how lovely the leaves were...

Brian: Thanks for the meme. I will play.

AR: The pot plants truly are beautiful and the leaves so unique with their odd number of points. And a lush, lovely green too. I would love to grow them just for house plants.
