Thanks for support and encouragement. My trek through TT is slow but somewhat doable. I'll make all the rounds eventually.

Kris: That is the polite version of what I am saying right now. An extremely polite version.

Subby: Thanks for the kicks. I'm kicking it right into the can.

Brian: No hope for computer. Terminal.

Liza: Not all well yet but getting there I think. Thanks.

Pup: Our computer at work literlly torched out too. Actually kind of scary.

Candie: Talk about scary stories. Yikes!!!! From now on, I'll look at my cell phone with much more respect.

Reya: No, not quite as dire as photo suggests. More of a metaphorical fire than literal. But died she did. Bit the bullet and bought a new set up. Now can't get broadband to stay connected for more than 5-15 minutes at a time and am manually crankin' it up. Have spent many hours on phone with tech support. No end in sight. Thank God for speaker phone. Oh yeah, and patience.

Reyjr: Very funny! I needed a laugh.

Tony: Thanks. I'm hanging in there. My man is having Ebay withdrawls. Planning memorial service for old computer. New computer transition fraught with lumps and bumps.

A.Decker: Ahh, thanks for reminding me. At this point I have enough lemons to start-up a concession stand.

Poetikat: Yes, indeed. Computers are the blood and bane of existence. Actually Blood and Bane would be a really cool name for a blog or another project.

Heh heh heh. Oh, I wish I could do that with my computer here at work, and the one at home, and my husbands laptop...

Kitty said...

If I didn't have an IT guy for a husband, we might have had a few suspicious computer fires around here in the last few months.

Dakota Bear said...

Computers the bane of our existence, how did we ever live without them.

Kurt said...

Ha!

Ronda Laveen said...

Oh, Gabby: Sometimes you just hit the wall you know? Before this, I wanted to get a laptop too. But am now reconsidering. Do I want this much aggravation x2?

Kitty: Your hubby is an IT guy? I am in virtual lust. It wouldn't mean anything... really. Just a one night stand, I hope.

Dakota and Kurt: It is such a lov-hate relationship. Lookin' forward to the love part.

Ooh, sorry about the new computer...what a giant pain! Better keep a fire extinguisher handy..phoom

my tech stuff usually dies quietly... my laptop feels alarmingly warm right now though... I never noticed that before.

Hope all is better, now!

Now see, I've been using Apple computers since the mid '80s, and I've never had problems like that (i.e. I never had a computer outright die, new computers were just a natural part of the upgrade process, and any problems with the Internet connection were always the ISP's fault, not my computer's). You wanna put out the fire? Buy a Mac!

tut-tut said...

Watch out! thanks for your comment, too.

Colette Amelia said...

Oh dear! that can't be at all a good thing!

Call in the geeks! Did you ever think that in high school those guys wandering around the halls with their calculators on their belt would be someone that we would all desire and covet so much in the future? Lucky lucky Mrs. Gates!

Ronda Laveen said...

Tom: Thanks. Fire Extinguisher? Good idea. I think I saw a bunch of them somewhere along the line. I think at Squirrel's house.

Squirrel: Paranoia strikes deep. Into your heart it will sneak. It starts when you're always alone...La la la.

Wings: Not better quite yet. Hopefully soon. (sigh!)

Roy: Oh, now you're just rubbin' it in! You Mac guy's are all alike. But from what I hear, you have a right to be. Thanks for the tip.

Tut-tut: Thanks, I'll watch it.

Baino said...

Oh no! Flamin' computers. Not good. Mine's a dying old Dell but the kids have Macbooks and swear by them. Ah don't you love that tech support is always online ..erm when you're not!

Thanks for visiting our site. If you have read my post for the last 10 days you will know that I have been having my own computer issues. Aren't they great when they work. And, they destroy your life when they don't.

I hope that by switching to a Mac, I will have forestalled my next arrival of one of those beastly bugs.

I will certain place some offerings at the alter of the patron saint of all things electronic on your behalf.

Frank said...

I used Windows based pcs for years. My first were DOS and I had a brief encounter with win 3.0. (a total nightmare) Stuck with windows all the way to a successful transition to Vista. I just can't deal with all the virus bugs, adware, malware, etc. My wife and I are now using Macs and all I can say is, why didn't we do this a long time ago. Once you get the hang of it everything, and I mean everything, is sooo much easier on a Mac. Roy is right. If you want to do your thing with no problems get a Mac.

New Yorker wannabes said...

OMG we do live parallel lives!

Well I spend 12 hours formating to save my PC and now I feel kinda...burned out!
Hope your issues are solved as well Ronda :-)

I loved the picture by the way lol lol

Peace and love

If next weeks theme is "hammer" I fear for your computer...

Sandra Leigh said...

ROTFL - Great photo and news item. If you ever need another computer to burn, I have one that needs sacrificing.

Ronda Laveen said...

Baino: Mine was a Dell too. I did get nine years out of it so can't complain too much. It's just that transitions are often messy.

Rita: Thanks for making an offering on my behalf on the altar of the Patron Saint of All Things Electric. I will do the same for you.

Frank: I remember DOS and Windows 3.0 too. I even remember some of the old DOS commands. There have been so many changes in the last 10-15 years. I thought about Mac. Guess I was afraid of the learning curve. But I hear they are great.

Marianna: Glad you computer issues are settling down too. I encounted a lot of people today who said they were having problems. Guess it's in the air.

DDeb: A hammer? Wow! That would have been a smashing good time. And I wouldn't have had to worry about the officals.

Sandra: That computer offer sounds awfully good right now. Bring it on.

I know how you feel, I too have been having computer issues this past week or so, but it was not my computer, it was my ISP and hopefully today it is finally fixed. Been working on and off this week. I hope it is finally fixed. And you know I tend to freak out when the thing is not working. But at least it has been on and off, so not a total burnout.

Loved the picture of the computer burning, cause I have wished this would happen to one of mine a few times. As to the MAC, my friends died and she liked her PC better, my sister switched to a PC too. I think it is just whichever one you are lucky to not have problems with. And I love my laptop. But yes it took a while to figure everything out, and still probably have not figured it all out.

God bless.

Megan said...

Are you pulling another prank? If not, well played, anyhow!

Wait...

Ronda Laveen said...

Sherry: Didn't you have problems a while back? I seem to remember "seeing red." Hope yours is fixed. By late afternoon, I finally wasn't getting booted of the net every 5-10 minutes.

Miss Megan: Not a prank. Computer took a big, hairy dump. No raging inferno but did get some smoke and sparking.

Chrisy said...

Oooh call the fire department...they're always nice to look at!

Hope the problems are solved by now.

Evening Light Writer said...

There is this computer at work that I would only love to blow up..or set on fire or do very bad things to because it is an absolute pain in the butt to deal with. My favorite scene in the movie Office Space is when they take that piece of office equipment out into a field and let loose on it. I'm always like use the batt, use the batt!

Clever way to celebrate T.T. though, hope your problems are solved soon enough.

Chrisy: Ohhh, you are SO right, fireman are so buffy.

Katherine: Today problems are starting to get better.

Mindy: I had forgotten about that scene if Office Space. Yeah, that is exactly how I feel.

Dave: Yes, technology is a lover until it is a b****.

Holly: I feel ya.
