After the Music Stops

After the Music Stops!
Is it just me or is there anyone else out there that thinks that there is something amiss with the saga of Rod Blagojevich? Last Thursday, January 29, 2009, the Illinois senate voted unanimously to remove the impeached Governor from office. Arrested on federal corruption charges in December, he was allegedly, among other things, charged with trying to sell or trade the Senate seat that became vacant after Barack Obama was elected president.
"I'm obviously sad and disappointed, but not at all surprised, by what the state
senate did today," Blagojevich said during a free-for-all news conference
outside his Chicago home. "The fix was in from the very beginning." (CNN)

There is something in this entire episode that just doesn't sniff right. This gentleman from Illinois is no Stephen Hawking. My gut tells me that he is a copycat type of an individual, not an innovator. When I look at his picture and listen to his story, the letters S-U-C-K-E-R psychically appear in my brain. He wants his piece of the pie but has no idea of how to bake one. My sense of this is that he is trying to do what he has seen other politicians do, capitalize on a fortuitous situation. From whom did he get this idea? Is this something that occurs on a regular basis? What trade offs and payoffs are dealt on a daily basis at political poker tables throughout our nation? Is he just the one that got caught, like the slow, fat kid? That scares the H-E-(double hockey sticks) out of me. My gut tells me that he got caught without a chair after the music stopped. I trust my gut implicitly, it has never betrayed me!

Finally someone who agrees with me. So I will answer your question in my post for today. I was going to post about something else but that can wait until a later date.

Anyway I have been on so many new sites tonight and I did find a few about cooking that include recipes. I found so many (actually almost all I visited), that think Republicans are the pariah of our nation. I think I need to find at least a few that do not. I think that is why I like Reya so much, in that I have seen some post their opposite views and she still treats them with respect.

I ignored politics when I was a Democrat, and for many years after I switched, then somehow about 10 years ago I have increased my interest until I have now become passionate.

A lot of people I know would ask me questions about how I was voting and why I was voting that way. It was almost sad that so many did not even show any interest in our propositions that we had to vote for in this past election. They seemed to have some belief that it did not affect them at all. Then I know others who just voted by what was shown on TV. I guess the ones who asked me to explain to them, at least, had a little idea of what they were voting for or against. I also find it so sad that some people idolize celebrities so much that they will vote for what they think is the "cool thing" to do. I never vote propositions along party lines and even cross party lines if the beliefs of that candidate are not in keeping with mine.

Okay I guess I had better stop, that is why I better answer your post with my post.

God Bless America and May America Bless God
(this is just my political sign off slogan)

Sherry, your sign off slogan is a wonderful sentiment!

I don't know what to think about Blago except that he is pretty damned amusing. If he were a fictional character I would claim that he was unrealistic- no one can be that wackadoodle. I think there is something going on with him too- Chicago politics are notoriously stinky- but then I live in New Jersey and we were hoping to retain our title of most corrupt state in the Union- Curse those wannabes in Illinois ! I do think Blago's hair is epic-rivaling Donald Trump's in bizarreness. Thanks for your comment on my inauguration post. I just added a couple of pics if interested...Also come on over and chat with me and some other cool women about synchronicity- methinks you would have much to contribute.

I think there's something very seriously wrong with Blago. I agree with you that he just doesn't quite get it - that selling a senate seat is against the law.

I'm sure others have done the same thing in more sophisticated ways, but I have no pity for Blago. He certainly doesn't get it that he's done something wrong. i feel relieved for the citizens of Illinois that he has been removed from office.

No, he doesn't seem to get that he has done something wrong. No remorse at all, in fact, he is rather cocky about the whole thing. That is why I wonder where his warped sense of values comes from. What yardstick does he use for his choice of standards?

Dear crone51, I will stop by soon and see your new additions.
