Dog-net

On Sunday, I was out working in the yard on one of those half and half days. Partly rainy and partly dry. Partly clear and partly cloudy. Cool, pushy breeze tempered by a warm blush of sun. The air, scrubbed clean by a morning shower, was infused, by mid-day, with a warm, rose sachet. The adulation of last night's thunderstorm, a distant, clapping memory.

Tweety birds trilled. Lady Bugs flew. My fluffy, furry trio of dogs, muddy and happy, romped. One buried her snout in the tiny, lavender, lantern-shaped flowers of the newly emerging Comfrey plant. Then engaged, eye to eye, in a Humming bird stare down. The oldest one taught the youngest to flip rocks over with his nose, flushing out sun bathing lizards.

Shadows and scents...chased on the ground.

Ears pricked and cocked and rotating...collected sounds I could not hear. Noses, wet and working, raised in the air, collected smells I could not detect. Eyes, bright and fixed, scanned images I could not see. Picking up bits of code from the ethers I could not imagine.

Shadows and scents...caught out of the air.

Long before the Internet, there was Dog-Net.

I am completely in awe of the animal kingdom.

Wonderful post...I am always moved by the beauty of nature and astounded by how much we humans cannot perceive.

Is the header a real fish bowl of yours? Nice. Nice experience to be witness to the communication and activity of the flying friends in our universe.

Aww I often wonder what they 'hear' let alone smell, must be a noisy place inside a dog's head! We lost our old lab last night so I hope he's somewhere playing among the lizards and comfrey.

I love the dog's-eye view! Thank you for sharing! :)

yeah, its pretty cool that animals utilize their senses so much better than we do. to have a day in their life...

Ronda you're a real master of the art of description. You describe (the weather fickliness, the animals collecting sounds and smells etc..)both with great skill and subtlety.

I always enjoy nature.

Sam: In many ways, we are quite dense in comparison to the other kingdoms, aren't we?

TechnoBabe: The header picture was one that at took at my nephews wedding in January. The had it at the head table sitting in front of he and his bride. It looked really cool and I just had to have a picture.

Baino: Really, it must be noisy inside their heads. They just pick up so much information. So sorry to read about the loss of your lab. I dread the day that mine must leave. They are 10 and 8 so in the not to distant future...

Stacy: Thanks, I'm working on the inter-species point of view.

Brian: I would give a lot of money to spend at least on day looking at the world from a dogs perspective.

DUTA: Thank you. I love trying to describe what I see and feel.

Jingle: Nature is awesome~!

Nice Rhonda. You tell a lovely story. DOG NET! Is that related to CATNIP?

Yes I am in awe of the animal kingdom, but also in awe of this beautiful poem. It describes the day, the energy and the events that unfolded with absolute perfection. Bravo!!

Dave: the images just opened for that moment in time.

Little Hat: ha! Yes, I think dognet and cat nip are related!

Reya:thank you! The energy of the day was so clear.

Love this post. In the morning I let my dog out on the deck. I watch her little nose sniff-sniffing away. What is she smelling?? I love the idea of experiencing nature the way an animal does. Roll in it :-)

If we were not so glued to the tv and computer, maybe we would see some of the things that animals do.

Third dog post today in a row-- there must be something to what you say for the blogsphere is picking up the hounds...

Lovely photos and words -- the comfrey looks heavenly as the roses and all else.

I love nature, especially at this time of year. I'm getting pretty sick of these clouds though. They won't rain! Why won't they rain? It's driving me nuts.

JGH: I'll bet Miss B looks so pretty when she's sniffing. Roll in it? Oh, yeah, except they like to get that dead animal smell right between their shoulder blades. They think they smell so good~

Otin: You have a point! We have our focus on other things we think important.

Joanna: That rose is "Garden Party." An appropriate name, I think, and it does smell heavenly.

Joanny: Third dog post in a row? Wow! You are on a "roll." It is interesting how the "vibe" gets going through the ethers.

Jai: You are so funny. We've had lots of clouds this year but not had any trouble getting them to rain. Not so in previous years.
