Dazed and Confused,
words of the day
back when Led Zeppelin
ruled, my world
was seen through a
Purple Haze.
I'd gaze in the mirror
to check my eyes
for telltale signs:
too much red against
white and blue.
A mirror and Visine,
my secret weapons, saved
my glutes from being
busted by the fuzz.
*Disclaimer: Now, folks, I don't smoke the wacky tabacky any more. It has been many, many years since I sat toking with Bill Clinton, me inhaling--him not (?). But, when you have a history you have a history...no ifs, ands or roaches. Now-a-days, I just use my memories for background and color.
What I've written qualifies my post for Theme Thursday AND Flash Fiction Friday 55. Go check out the other entries, that's right...go on. Thanks for visiting the Wonderland and have a great weekend.
Friday Flash Fiction 55: tell a story in EXACTLY 55 words. Go see g-man on Friday to give it a try or read more.

My favourite Led Zep tune...ever! Sums me up a lot of the time, wot? Heh, heh...and cool Hendrix reference( always )
LOL @ the part of you and Bill tokin'!
My secret weapon is not to look too closely, heh..
Lord Save Us From Fuzzy Mirrors ! :)
enjoyed me some zeppelin in my day...thats about all i will fess up to at this point...the fuzz may be readin', smiles.
Ah wacky tabacky and Bill Clinton. It boggles the mind!
Lovely, but I couldn't quite make out whether you were regretting not smoking it these days, or boasting. Seems a little sad to me.
Very vivid picture Ronda! And I know what you mean about the fuzzy mirror, such a perfect description, though I won't admit to anything either. :)
Soft focus is sometimes the best... -j
Gazed and confused, lol! you wit.
Every now and then someone offers me a toke. I always say yes, though I wouldn't get back into a habit, oh no. I live in DC and must stay sharp. Besides, I smoked plenty back in the day.
But whenever I smoke (and these days ONE toke is more than enough) I feel so gentle and sweet. I always walk around the 'hood thinking, The architecture is SO BEAUTIFUL! The trees are SO BEAUTIFUL! The animals and people are SO BEAUTIFUL.
Honestly it is such a benign drug. Those were the good old daze.
What you have written qualifies you for whatever you want! I for one will defend your right to Thursday and Friday and what the heck Saturday too, if you want to claim it. I like your writing here. You are telling it like it was, which many people can relate to. Some still can. Good show on your humor in it too. Hugs.
Love it!Love that song!Have a lovely day:D
Oh, so many people did the wacky tabacky! And obviously had a whole lot of fun!
Me? No. It's not a long story, just a stupid one.
Out of order, remember?
Enjoyed your 55!
This was cute. I find it interesting listening to other people's experiences using "wacky tobacky". I've never used any of that but I've had plenty of psychadelic experiences regardless. I think it might just be my vivid imagination.
Jai
I love the "saving your glutes" line!
Subby: I think I'm a big fan of your secret weapon. And as my eyes deteriorate with age, even when I look closely I can't see closely.
Tony: A very funny Fuzzy:-)
Brian: That's what is so great about getting older, if I don't fess up now, I may not get the chance.
Stephanie: Ah, it does bogle the mind...literally...but in a good way.
Dave: I neither regret or boast about not toking. It just is. Some things are and then they are not. It's just where I am at right now.
Deanna: Hmmm, I see we need to swap some stories.
Jayne: Yes, soft focus...very well stated.
Leah: It just came to me as a good way to connect "mirror" to the post.
Reya: The way you described a one-hitter giving you such a sweet and gentle feeling with everything looking SO BEAUTIFUL made me remember so long ago, how I felt the first time I smoked. Ah...
TechnoBabe: Thank you for being one of my great champions. I will defend your honor too. Congrats on your recent award.
Candie: I know how you like to get your rock star on. XXOO
Marisa: Yes, wacky tabacky is a commonality for many of my generation...and was a lot of fun. Yes, I remember you are "Out of Order."
Jai: You don't need wacky tabacky. Your meditation and imagination are quite enough for you, I can tell.
Mama Zen: As a massage therapist, glutes are always on my mind and in my hands. Somehow, they always need savin'.
It is said mirrors cannot lie. What one sees in the reflection is true, even if it looks fuzzy. It's the smoking that creates illusions.
Anyway , your little 55 poem is lovely, as usual.
You didn't have to tell me that you no longer smoked. The piece stands on its own without apology. Great job!
I’m up right HERE
DUTA: I always love your crystal clarity on every situation. You're right it is not the mirror that is illusion, it is in the smoke.
Susan: Why, thank you, my love.
A two-fer! Economical, efficient and fun as ever...
Way to rock it!
Mine’s here.
Myself...?
I'm still living those thrilling days of yesteryear!
Excellent 55 Ronda..
You Rock The Left Coast Baby!
Thank you so much for playing today, and have a Kick Ass Week-End!...G-Daddy
Titanium: Thanks, yours was great too!
G-man: With you, there is no yesteryear, only now! Peace, from the left coast.
Hi Ronda . . the last stanza of your lovely poem is difficult for a UK resident who was a teenager when Beethoven was still alive. What is "Visine" And are your glutes what I think they are?
Nice 55.
All good wishes.
Anything mentioning Led Zep and Hendrix is okay by me. Certainly no Communication Breakdown here :-)
I see the interconnectedness has roped in a lot of my buddies here!
Brilliant! I love the 55 word idea.
Never apologize for your history. Things were what they were and made us who we are.
Flash 55 - Priorities
Flash 55 - So Sorry
Aw, Ronda, back in the day... LOL! Terrific 55!
Thought for a minute you said Glazed and confused. I was looking for a doughnut story!
Oh, I remember those days. That's all I'm saying. :-)
Hey lady...stop by my blog today. I left you a little sumpthin-sumpthin! :) Enjoy!
Vaseline? Now you tell me. I've got my own "misspent" youth.
Dr. FTSE: Visine is an over-the-counter remedy used for clearing redness out of one's eyes. A drop or two in each eye clears it right up. It was common for both women and men to carry it at all times in the 60s for reducing red eye from smoking pot.
Beethoven would have used it for clearing the eye redness from Laudnum or snuff. And, if your thinking glutes are your buns, yes they are!
Anthonynorth: Nope, no Communication Breakdown here:-)
Nessa: You are so right! Our history made us what we are.
Jinksy: There is an interconnectedness showing up here isn't there?
Michelle: Thanks.
Felicitas: Rock on, sistah of the Good Ol' Days.
Dorraine: Ha! Now that's funny...Glazed and Confused. I'll bet those doughnuts were sounding mighty tasty for a munchie break.
Alice Audrey: HA! Not Vaseline...Visine. Vaseline was for another part of my misspent youth.
Stacy: Thank you so much. I'll be over as soon as I can. I have to go to work now but will check in from my handheld.
Partaaaay on with the poetry, Ronda! I miss the wacky tabacky days of my youth.
Two birds with one stone . . .or is that stoned? God I wish I'd thought of visine! Toked a little in my youth but it just made me sleepy and gave me a craving for cheese and pickle toasted sandwiches.
Actually I did post about disco but my tastes have always been more alternative. Much fun Ronda, much fun!
Thanks for your 55.
And thanks for your visit to my blog and for leaving a comment. I don't think we have met before. (If we have, forgive me.) I love meeting new bloggers when they comment or become a follower.

Larry..
wow a doobie..oh I mean a double post tee hee --you and Bill who knew? all good fun--the memories of youth-great job-c
I am with Reya on this one, well at least if anyone was to offer me some anymore. I love wacky tabacky and I admit it. Cuz you know you have to zig when you zag and besides you can get it everywhere down here. They even opened up a large supermarket for it, I drive down streets and can smell it and that is while going by my local police station (just kidding, my cops here are really mean looking, but nice). Although I have known a few who did, well you know just to relax.
Sometimes I am thinking I live in Denmark not Southern Cali because of how easy it is to get. And with all the politicans wanting to put a tax on it so as to "fix" their spending habits, what can I say. It does grow in the wild here like the weed God intended it to be.
But seriously it kills your brain cells, makes one lazy, you eat like a pig and then you just gain tons of weight, you never work because you just want to sleep, it screws up your lungs, and if you drive then you are putting someone's life at risk. Geez, this sounds a lot like the Amb*en I take, well except the lung thing. But at least I am now legal.
So in my truly humble opinion, do whatever you want and just be safe about it. No driving and puttting innocent people's life at risk. Just do like we tell you, "walk" around, see how beautiful the trees are, and the beautiful flowers (is that where the flower children came from), also be careful who you hug because we do have a lot of muggings in our cities.
Toke on, but stay safe.
God bless.
PS...I never got to smoke any with Bill, I'm jealous....not!!!
JGH: I miss those days to but don't really want to go back. I guess that's why I write about them.
Baino: Yes! Two birds with one "stoned." HA! I love cheese and pickle toasted sandwhiches but without the toasted bread.
Prayer Girl: Thanks, no we've not met before but I enjoyed your blog.
Shakira: Thanks for the Mandarin wish for prosperity. We can all use one, right? Well, I know I can. Bless you.
Larry: Thanks for the encouragement. I'm not ashamed of tokin' I just don't do it any more. Don't really know why...just doesn't fit me know. I do think your blog smokes though:-)
C.M. Jackson: What was that old program? Romper Room...with the Do Bee and the Don't Be. I always wanted to be the Do Bee. I'll send your regards to Bill.
Sherry: I can just imagine you, me and Reya sittin' around doin' a bunch of one-hitters. Very funny. Next time Bill invites me over, I'll call you and you can come with me.
