Faux Spring Day

Bagging their droplets, the rain clouds

have swished on to shower other states.

Some drier.

Some whiter.

Gray and wet skies have

lost their hand to the

blue and the sunny.

We welcome the break with

open windows and doors

letting in 70 degree temperatures...

letting the breath of warm breeziness

stir the curtains.

People smile...

Inwardly and outwardly.

Shorts and flip-flops,

ball caps and muscle-man T's

bare flashes of white, pale skin...

blinding affirmations of the coming warm.

Animals soak up the warmth of El Sol.

I swear they are smiling too.

Especially those happy California cows.

The steady drone of mowers

and weed eaters from across the way

accompany my walk to the mailbox.

And clean it smells...and green.

Fresh soaked earth--steaming.

And one family member

chooses to leave her body

during this brief respite.

She saw the Light...

too bright to ignore.

Goodbye, G.G., I'll miss you.

But you were wise to

make your move now.

This won't last,

It never does.

It is just a faux spring day.

Goodbye GG; you chose a good day.
Here too it's sunny and warm, a welcome tease of spring. We are glad for it, but not fooled.

GG chose a great day to go. RIP GG.

It has been nice for the last week, but I am still doing rain dances, which it's supposed to rain again on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. We need to take advantage of the El Nino as much as possible because when La Nina comes back then that means the drought will too. And the fuller we get our lakes and reservoirs this year, then the better we will handle the coming droughts.

It does not look like they will be cold rainy days with it still being in the mid 60's.

Have you had any snow this year? Our mountains seem to have a lot of snow this year which will also help with the drought and their drought for the snow business.

Okay, gotta go back to rain dancing. California needs lots and lots of rain. Thank you rain gods.

God bless.

Bless GG. That sunshine can soak a thousand cares away. It has not been stingy here in the last couple of days. I've made every excuse to be outside. Enjoy, Ronda, and thanks for the spring wishes.

Oh man, shorts and flip flops. Big sigh.

The "El Sol" is welcome any time.
"The blue and sunny skies", are our favourites. They bring us and the animals warmth, and green beauty, and they successfully replace "the grey and wet skies".

However, we and the soil also need the Rain. We want the rain clouds to visit us steadily and in moderation.

You've managed to combine these ideas in your little poem with great skill.

NanU: So glad you are getting a little sun and warmth even if it is fleeting.

Tony: Yes, I can feel it coming.

Brian: Sending you some of our rays while they last. They say Saturday it will end.

Harnett-Hargrove: Yes, how very well you stated this: "Here's to the light and what lay behind it."
Cheers!

Bhavesh: Thank you for visiting.

Sherry: I'm still doing the rain dance too! I know we need it but, boy, oh boy, this sun is nice.

We've had snow but not right here where I live. All around us, maybe 5 miles from me and in the mountains. We have lots of snow pack unless it warms up too quick. Good thing more storms are coming. I can already feel the temperature dropping.

Dorraine: Good for you, getting out there in that abundant Texas sun. Maybe even a little writting with the sun on your head and shoulders?

TechnoBabe: YES! Shorts AND flip-flops!

DUTA: Oh, YES, Duta. Well stated. Steady and moderate. The rains come again tomorrow and, although I'll miss El Sol, they will be mighty welcome.

Very nice, even though the ending was somewhat sad... but only for those of us left behind.

It'll be another month at least before we see a day like that in New England.

Ronda I am so sorry for your loss. It does sound like a good day to depart this beautiful world.

Sending you lots of love.

Ronda Laveen said...

Skip: Sending a box of warm rays your way.

Foxter: Yes, it was a little sad but that was a day in the life of. Another month before you get a day like today? Wow! Although I would like some of your snow, there are good things about Cali.

Reya: Thanks. When she left, she left...zoom. She was not stuck inside that dark room or body any more. Thanks for your love.

I enjoyed this very much, but above all the first verse and the last two. They were inspired, I think. Everything else falls brilliantly into place between them.

Very nicely done. Good byes are only temporary.

Megan: (hugs)

Dave: I always appreciate your opinion and critique. I learn so much from you.

Nessa: Yes, goodbyes are only for the moment.

Jinksy: Beginnings and endings...that lead into the never ending circle of life.

JStar: Thanks. I know how hard it is to keep up in Blogtopia. Sometimes it just takes a while to get around. Welcome.

Ronda? Who is GG? I have no clue? Is everything okay?

Beautiful elegy.

I hope you are okay, Ronda. I too like to believe that "goodbyes are only for the moment."

Otin: Yes, I'm okay. G.G. is my brother's mother-in-law. I have known her for nearly 40 years. She was diagnosed with a brain tumor 7 months ago. She passed quickly and was only in pain at the end. Thanks.

Leah: Thanks so much. Yes I am okay. Yes, goodbyes are only fleeting. We are never really separated.

Oh Ronda, this brought tears, so beautiful. Bless GG.
You've also brought about some hope for the spring to come. It's still less than 20 here, with melting snow, and pouring snow, everywhere. It can be so depressing.
Thank you so much for a lovely, lovely post!

Baino said...

Sorry to hear it Ronda, who is GG? There's always an 'indian summer' isn't there? Won't be long and spring will rise again.

Ronda Laveen said...

Eternally: Sunshine after the rain is just the best.

Lettuce: Thank you.

Deanna: Thank you. Yes, keep that hope of spring. It is right around the corner...truly. Here, see the sunshine? Ahhh...

Baino: GG was my brother's mother-in-law. Spring is so close for us now but the rains are on their way back tonight.
